So when Instagram rolled out their new “stories”, I was slightly skeptical. No filters that make me look like a dog or have a flower crown? However, I realized that this was a great way to connect with my followers and friends that I follow. I saw @ZoeGrant_ making this recipe on her Instagram story and just had to have the recipe! So within a few seconds of me messaging her, she sent me the link to Pinch of Yum’s blog for her Sweet Potato Chili recipe. It’s too good not to share! The sweet potato base is hearty and savory, which makes it a great combination with the spices and ground turkey. This recipe is not only easy to make, but fills you up and tastes rich with zero guilt!

I traded out the taco seasoning for a few spices and added in the corn, but other than that, Pinch of Yum is a genius! I made this as my lunch meal prep for the week and couldn’t wait to dive into my sweet potato chili in my cube every afternoon. This recipe makes a hefty amount so I shared with my sister and co-worker, both of them enjoyed the flavors! Now that the cooler temps are hopefully here to stay, it’s the perfect meal to make for the season!sweet potato chiliimg_0102

sweet potato chili

  • 1lb ground turkey
  • 4-5 Sweet potatoes
  • ½ White Onion
  • 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
  • 2 Tbsp EVOO
  • 1 Can of Border/Mexi-Corn
  • 1 Can of Black beans
  • 1 Can of Kidney beans
  • 3 Tbsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Cayenne
  • 3 C Water
  • 2 tsp Better than bullion
  • ½ tsp Crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 Tbsp Greek yogurt
  1. In a large pan, brown ground turkey over medium heat with EVOO, garlic and onion. Once thoroughly cooked, remove from pan and place on a plate.
  2. In the same pan, sauté sweet potatoes until slightly browned.
  3. Pour in water and Better than Bullion.
  4. Allow to boil until sweet potatoes are soft, about 10-15 min.
  5. Skim cooked sweet potatoes from the broth and blend in a food processor until smooth.
  6. Return sweet potatoes and ground turkey to the pan with broth.
  7. Add in corn, beans and seasoning. Bring to a slight boil and let simmer for 45min to 1 hour.
  8. Top with Greek yogurt and cilantro- enjoy!
